Wood Firings
3 years ago, I built a wood fired kiln in Wilderness Wood.

The kiln was built following the Olsen fast-fire design, following the guidance of Matthew Bayman, and with help from Tom Joseph (architect)

You can read more about the wood-firing process, and the kiln, on the about page, but nothing beats seeing it during a firing.

If you would like to hire some kiln space to fire some of your work, or are interested in taking part in a firing to learn more, then please get in touch. I am also happy to try and answer any questions you have about wood firings.
Next firing scheduled for:
Wednesday 16th April 2025
Wood Firing Experience
Wood firings are an exciting and unique experience, and I am always happy to have extra hands to help out.

The firings are intense, and often begin early in the morning, just before dawn, and can run for as long as 12 hours.

If you are interested in learning more, and want to join the team for the next firing, please consult the schedule above, and then get in touch via the form on the contact page.

Kiln Space Hire
The wood kiln is fired to stoneware temperatures, and when successful, reaches 1260 degrees.

If you would like to hire space in the kiln, you are welcome to bring your pots - glazed or unglazed, greenware or bisqueware - to the woods and have them fired for a fee.
If you are filling enough of the kiln, we can arrange to fire to lower temperatures.

To arrange for your pots to be fired, please get in touch via the form on the contact page.
